How to reset the WordPress administrator password in Managed WordPress

This article describes how to reset the WordPress administrator password on a Managed WordPress account. The WordPress Toolkit in cPanel enables you to do this quickly and easily.

The information in this article applies to cPanel-based Managed WordPress hosting accounts. If your Managed WordPress account uses Plesk, please see this article instead.

Resetting the WordPress administrator password

To reset the WordPress administrator password using the WordPress Toolkit, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
    If you do not know how to log in to your cPanel account, please see this article.
  2. In the Quick Start section of the cPanel home screen, click WordPress Toolkit:

  3. The WordPress Toolkit page appears with a list of installed WordPress sites:

  4. Locate the WordPress installation for which you want to change the password, and then click Setup. The Setup dialog box appears:

  5. To view the current password, under Current password, click the eye icon.
  6. To reset the password, type the new password in the New password text box.

    Alternatively, click Generate and WordPress Toolkit generates a random, strong password for you automatically.
  7. Click Change. The new password takes effect immediately.
